Created during a one-month residency at Studio Kura in rural Japan, these paintings emerged from a period of reflection on friendship, belonging, and the ways relationships change over time.

Living and working in a small village outside Fukuoka, I was thinking about the people who shape my life, the friendships that endure, and those that quietly fall apart.

Working with acrylic, charcoal, and oil pastel, i moved between figuration and abstraction. Bodies appear and dissolve, groups gather and separate, while landscapes become emotional spaces rather than specific places. The paintings do not tell a single story. Instead, they explore moments of closeness, misunderstanding, comfort, distance, and the fragile connections that exist between people.
