Ulrike Schild grew up in Upper Austria and moved to Vienna at the age of 19. While studying Comparative Literature she worked as an editor for the Vienna youth magazine WOLFGANG and the art magazine LES NOUVEAUX RICHES. During this time she was also part of the Vienna collective for analog photography WIEN ANALOG and participated in photo exhibitions.

In addition to writing and photography, she devoted herself to film early on. At the age of 20, Ulrike started working in the film industry. Starting as a production assistant, she took on every film job she could get. In addition, she wrote and directed her own short films and music videos. She later worked on projects for VICE Austria, Universal Music Vienna, Snakes and Funerals, Die Angewandte Wien, Soleil Film GmbH and more.

Today she works as freelance director and video artist, as well as a video artist in permanent residency at Volkstheater Wien. Her preferred medium is 16mm film.
