APFELESSER GUTER KÜSSER?

16mm | short films | 3' each

“Appleeater good Kisser?” is inspired by an Austrian childhood myth: Can you tell if someone is a good kisser by the way they eat an apple?
A group of men, all dressed in the same shade of red, eat apples in front of the camera. A simple yet vulnerable gesture becomes a playful study of intimacy and expression.

The uniform red clothing anonymizes the men while giving their bodies a fleshy, almost fruit-like quality. Through this chromatic alignment, they appear less as individual figures and more as part of a shared composition.

Unfolding across several chapters, the ongoing series moves between Vienna, the Upper Austrian countryside, and artist residencies in Marseille and Tokyo. Each location shifts the atmosphere of the work and the way the same gestures are perceived. With every new chapter, the series enters a different social environment, allowing subtle differences in behavior, rhythm, and body language to emerge.

The individual chapters are conceived as a multi-channel installation. Ideally, they are projected simultaneously on separate surfaces and presented as continuous loops. Together, the films create a dialogue between spaces and bodies, allowing similarities and differences to emerge.
