Animals and other Creatures

Animals appear throughout my work as companions, witnesses, projections, and “standins” for human experience. Sometimes they emerge from memory, sometimes from observations or they arrive unexpectedly during the painting process.

Moving between figuration and abstraction, these works explore the blurred boundary between the familiar and the strange. Animals, humans, and imagined beings share the same pictorial space, creating scenes that oscillate between reality and fantasy. And I think animals are just the best.
