Claudia Bauer’s latest production at Volkstheater Vienna revisits Elfriede Jelinek’s early play Krankheit oder moderne Frauen (1984), transforming it into a wild, vampiric theatrical spectacle. With a bold red womb-like set by Patricia Talacko, clashing costumes by Andreas Auerbach, live electronics by PC Nackt and Arpen Daks, and contributions from the queer "Schmusechor," the piece uses grotesque humor and shocking imagery to expose enduring patriarchal narratives.
